The Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE), or thermoplastic rubbers, are a class of copolymers or a polymeric mixture (usually a plastic and a rubber) with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties. While most of the elastomers are thermosets, TPEs are relatively easy to use in production, for example, through injection molding. Thermoplastic elastomers show both advantages typical of plastics that tire. The main difference between thermoset elastomers and thermoplastic elastomers is the type of cross-linking of their structures. In fact, crosslinking is a fundamental structural factor that contributes to conferring the high elastic properties.
